Lisa Brooks-Lewis, Deputy Director of EDI Services
I’m Lisa, Deputy Director of EDI within EDI Services at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é. I work in partnership with a diverse range of colleagues and students to build awareness, capability and motivation to address marginalisation and challenge inequality across our community.
My role focuses on aligning and embedding our EDI strategy across the organisation, supporting and leading the EDI Services team, and ensuring our work translates into meaningful, sustainable change. This includes developing training and resources, strengthening communications, and working with colleagues to review systems and processes to identify and address practices that may create inequity or unintended harm.
I have worked at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é for over 10 years, beginning in Student Services. I initially supported students who had been subjected to harm as Mental Health Support Team Manager, and later established the Duty, Assessment and Inclusion Team, working both operationally and strategically. Working in EDI services since 2023.
My professional background spans Youth Justice and collaborative work across health and sexual violence services, with a focus on improving support for individuals with complex and dual diagnosis needs. I completed my MSc in Strategic Leadership in 2025, with a focus on promoting equity, challenging discrimination, and addressing stigma. My dissertation focused on Data processes. These principles underpin my approach, with the aim of enabling all members of our university community to feel valued and able to thrive.
