Powerlifting and Weightlifting
Home of the reigning BUCS Powerlifting team champions, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Powerlifting and Weightlifting welcomes everyone from first-time lifters to national-level competitors.
Powerlifting and Weightlifting at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é is a community of more than 100 members who share one aim: becoming the strongest version of themselves. Weightlifting centres on two lifts, the snatch and the clean & jerk, while powerlifting tests maximal strength across three: the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
Ways you can get involved
Athletic Union (AU)
The club is dedicated to building skill, strength, and knowledge through structured team programmes and in-person coaching, with a Weightlifting team, a Powerlifting Performance team, and a Powerlifting Development team preparing newer lifters to progress into the performance squad.
Whether you are looking to learn the lifts, get stronger alongside like-minded people, or compete for BUCS & National titles, the club combines inclusivity, community, and a love of lifting heavy.
Both powerlifters and weightlifters train twice a week at Powerbase, with access to competition-standard equipment and opportunities throughout the year, including BUCS and the Midlands University Championships (MUCS).
Alongside training, regular socials bring the whole club together, making it a strong choice for students who want both a competitive and a social experience at university.
